The Judge likes Mad Meatball. Judge Minty and I stopped there after duty/patrol on a recent Friday evening. We sat on the patio. They even let us park our Lawmaster's next to the patio. This is a comfortable place. Not stuffy at all. We like this fact. Lots of room on the patio. Our server was a nice Lady. She had a lot of table's in and out but still did a great job. We had the Sausage, tater tot and cheddar pizza. It was outstanding! The pie was HOT and fresh. Crust was tasty and crispy. Good sauce and ingredients. Good proportions of the ingredients as well. We ordered a small, but our server put in as a large. She gave us the larger pie at the small pie's price. A nice thing by her! The Judges thank her for that. Lots of interesting pies to try on the menu. They also have a Italian Beef. The Judge is eager to try one as they say they are good. The Judge loves and knows a good Italian beef sandwich. Look for that judgement to come soon....Also you can watch Cubs fireworks from the Patio! JUDGEMENT:Both Judge Minty and myself approve and like this place. We will visit again soon. Great pizza, good service, good drinks as well. As always you should go try Mad Meatball and be your own Judge! That is all for this review...Till the next Judgement Citizens......

First of all, I just want to say this place is a dive bar. So if you're expecting some place fancy or really nice looking inside, look elsewhere because you're going to be disappointed. The place is dark and divey inside and decorated with various beer signs. But it has its own sense of charm. It feels like a neighborhood place you can go to for some great food. My husband and I both ordered 7" pizzas and they were fantastic. I got the supreme and my husband got the combination pizza. The crust was thin and just the right amount of crispy. After we finished our pizzas, we were still hungry. They seemed kind of small. We were wishing we had gotten a 14" pizza or an appetizer. Although the food was great and this is a dive bar, that's no excuse for the slow service from our waitress. She seemed really indifferent, like she didn't want to be there. It took her awhile to get our drink order and our food order. She also didn't know the price of a beer when my husband asked her and she guessed the price. But when we got our bill it was a dollar more than what she told us. The other two waitresses seemed more on the ball, so if we had gotten one of them, we probably would have had a more pleasant experience. So I would say the food gets 4 stars and the service gets 2 stars. But I would still go back again for that great pizza. I also want to try some other things on the menu. The onion rings looked delicious. If you want some good pizza, give this place a chance. But just be prepared because you might have to wait a little bit.

I got to admit, I go Mad for Pizza, I've gone Mad for Pasta too, and you know I go Mad for a good selection of beers! Well guess what this is a great place for me to go Mad! I love the outdoor seating even though the speaker is really distorted playing TLC songs and other 90's R and B Jams! But it was a good conversation starter! Did you know T-Boz is from Des Moines! How cool is that! I bet she would not go chasing Waterfalls if she knew about this place she would be chasing the Pizza! We arrived pretty early, it will still happy hour and a guy at the bar gave us a tip, they have have off all drinks and apps for the next 15 minutes! We sat down ordered some drinks and some onion rings while we waited for our guest! The onion rings were thick and crispy and not to greasy! I dug them! So did the 1 and a half year old daughter of our friends! They are served with in house made Ranch, or as I prefer Ketchup! Everyone else at the table ordered sandwiches and I choose to get a large Vegan Veggie pizza with no cheese! It was fantastic, lots of of toppings and a very thin and crispy crust! Perfect for eating the whole large pizza by yourself! I did share a couple slices with the 1 and a half year old! The service here was great, they had a great beer selection, and a big Moscow Mule selection as well! For the first time here I was very happy with my experience! And I will be back for sure!

Discovered this pizzeria from a Groupon. Wow! We had the house favorite and will be back!

I ordered the Meat Pizza and it looked nothing like the pizza pictured here. The pizza resembled a Totino's frozen pizza and was very unremarkable despite having grazianos sausage, meatball, coppacola, and bacon. It hardly had any toppings at all. We paid $18.00 for a very small, bland pizza and wont be back. Too many good pizza places to frequent.

From the reviews, I was expecting a lot more. Maybe I came on an off day. The customer service was awesome and the food was just okay. I ordered a veggie pizza and Caesar side salad. Not sure of the cook/chef was new or not, but I overheard him asking the waitress about what goes into a Caesar salad. As an avid lover of Caesar salad, I grew a little worried it wouldn't be that great. He made it almost correctly, but without croutons. I asked for croutons and I was told after they searched for a bit that they are out of croutons and they'll get some in on Friday. Of course I wasn't waiting until Friday as it was Tuesday and I'm just visiting the area from out of state due to work. So, I stopped at a local grocery store to purchase croutons for my salad... The pizza was okay- pretty average, but the service was awesome. Pretty much a place to unwind, grab some food and a beer after work or on the weekend.

Great for a quick lunch. I've been here a number of times. Only item that was not a favorite of mine was the chicken parm sandwich. Everything else has been quite tasty. I'll be back again and do enjoy the laid back atmosphere.

The moment that you walk into Mad Meatball Pizzeria and Pub you know that you are in a dive bar. The only question left is what caliber of dive bar? The answer for me today was a pretty damn good one. The dark and intimate atmosphere puts you at ease right away. While eclectically designed with junkyard leftovers it still has a subtle charm to it. It truly felt like a place that I could get lost for a little while. have a couple beers and get some good food. We happened to have a Groupon for a large pizza and two beers. (I recommend the deal for $18) My wife and I split a Meatza Pizza; it was delicious. The crust was thin and crispy, the sauce was tasty but understated, and the meat toppings of sausage, pepperoni, Cappicola and bacon made for a fantastic combination. The glassware was clean and my Confluence IPA was nice and cold and a perfect complement. Our server was pleasant and helpful and brought me a sample of another beer I was interested in without a moment's hesitation. The pizza was on the table in about 20 minutes hot and fresh. This was a great first stop at Mad Meatball for us, and we will definitely be back!

We had the Mad Pizzeria with red spicy sauce. This is a thin crust pizza which was pretty dang decent. Atmosphere was causal locals with a good spring/summer feel. They have happy hour everyday from 2-6 so be sure to check that out.

The restaurant was understaffed, and on top of this the one waitress seemed indifferent, and hard to get a hold of. There was a little over a dozen people. The bathrooms are gross. The wings I had had good flavor but I was disgusted by finding loose bone shards in the meat, the waitress didn't care when I pointed this out to her. The piazza was good but nothing great. I'm undecided if I would give them another shot. If I was to order from here I would definitely get my food to go to avoid some of the problems I have seen.

I just stumbled on this place, and since I have a love for dive bars this is right up my alley. Interesting place with friendly and informative wait staff. I ordered dry rub chicken wings, the waitress warned me they were very hot but I didn't really believe her. I wasn't expecting them to be breaded but they were and yes they were HOT, but very tasty. I needed lots of blue cheese dressing but I ate them all. I sweated a little in the process but enjoyed them all. The cook came out and asked if they were good and told me they had habanero and ghost pepper seasoning, nice guy. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Went there as prompted by a relatively well priced groupon. On the way to the restaurant it seemed a bit hard to find as it was a little off the beaten path--but it is actually in a super convenient location. We ordered the large BBQ chicken pizza for two and it was wonderful. We ate the entire thing in one sitting and kept saying on the drive home how full we were. The server was wonderful and made great drink suggestions given what my partner had ordered originally. I definitely will eat there again when in DSM.

Had the meatball it was ok. The onion rings were very good. Allie made me a drink was good. She called it the Allie. Both bar tenders were female and very attractive.

Drove up and parked in a muddy lot filled with potholes with standing water in them. Because they have no designated parking spaces, a decent sized lot was taken up by just a few cars. After muddying up my shoes we came to what I thought was the entrance. It really wasn't the entrance, just the door where the staff hang out and smoke cigarettes. You can tell because their were about 400 butts all over the walking areas. The exterior really did it for me if you can't already tell. The food was average at best. I had the meatball pizza and I have to tell you, I expected a bit more from the meatball pizza for a restaurant with meatball in the name. Nothing really stood out. The servers were nice, but I was not thrilled one bit. It's still early and I am sure this place is finding it's way.

Food was very good, especially at this price point. Meatball sandwich wasn't drowned in marinara, but had enough to give good flavor. Service was a little slow, especially for a Saturday afternoon.

Went there last week and had a really good pizza. It was the special that night so only $10 and we split it. Even enough to take a few slices home. Okay selection of beer, had some local stuff on tap which is nice. Next time will need to try the meatball sandwich as that is the all time special. We sat at the bar and the gal serving us was really nice! Ended up getting pretty busy and could have used another server but overall we will for sure go back.

Had the pepperoni pizza and meatball sandwich. Very good! The onion rings and homemade ranch was amazing too! Liked the atmosphere as well.

We visited recently and will not return. Atmosphere is bland, service was neutral, but the meatballs (which is the defining factor for this place) were disgusting. No flavor, pieces of bone and fat/grit made it impossible for me to finish my meal.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
